Paris Hilton for President? Why not?
Why not? Let's face it, the professional politicians flip back and forth faster than pancakes on an Oklahoma skittle. Republican or Democratic, we always get the same old thing in the end, screwed.
The tell us they won't raise property taxes, and then after the election, they do.
They promise to do the right thing before the election, and then after then do what they want.
They vow to give us things we need like national health insurance, better education, improved transportation, a solution to the oil and energy crisis that have been festering for decades, and then they do nothing.
John McCain. Barack Obama. I don't care how great a candidate you are, if you are a product of the institution, you will be controlled by the institution.
Now, along comes a product of public interest, someone everyone ridicules yet they spend their time reading about her and watching her on TV.
Paris Hilton.
She's the granddaughter of a genius. She's still young, but they ridicule her as a "socialite" like having wealth and a care free attitude are things you have to apologize for.
But apparently, she is important enough that she got dragged into the presidential election campaign between John "I'm so boring it's pathetic" McCain and Barack "I'll Do Whatever Makes My Consultants Say I have to do to get elected" Obama.
And you know what? Paris Hilton comes out on top.
Here is her answer to the energy and oil crisis in her words:
"Ok so here's my energy policy. Barack [Obama] wants to focus on new technologies to cut foreign oil dependency. And McCain wants offshore drilling. Well why don't we do a hybrid on both candidates' ideas.
"We can do limited offshore drilling with strict environmental oversight while creating tax incentives to get Detroit making hybrid and electric cars. That way the offshore drilling carries us until the new technologies kick-in which will then create new jobs and energy independence."
You want to know something, she makes more sense than either candidate. And that little young pure blooded American girl from a successful American family institution has an idea worth discussing.
And that makes you wonder.
Must we always just take whomever the political parties and the clout heavy monied manipulators throw at us?
Or, can we Americans think for ourselves?
I'm not saying Paris Hilton should be president. But when a young girl who is so ridiculed because she happens to be young, innocent and pretty comes up with an idea that is better than both of the leading candidates for president, shouldn't we stop in our tracks and reassess the situation?
We should take Paris Hilton seriously because she is You and she is me. Paris Hilton is the typical American, Gutsy and not afraid to stand up and defend herself against all of the bigshot, hypocritical pundits who dominate the news media and are always wrong but NEVER take responsibility for their own stupidity.
So I am launching "DRAFT PARIS HILTON FOR PRESIDENT" not because I believe she can win, but because I believe Americans need to make a statement that we are tied and we're not going to take it any more.
John McCain is different than President Bush?
Barack Obama represents change?
Or maybe, both of them are the same old same old because we Americans just role over like sheep and take what's thrown at us every election.
I want answers to the real questions.
I want to know when we are REALLY going to get out of Iraq?
I want to know when we are really going to fight the real war on terrorism, not the politically expedient war that President Bush launched?
I want to know when we are going to capture and arrest and charge Osama Bin Laden for a crime he orchestrated nearly seven years ago and is still out there plotting to destroy our country?
I want to know when we are really going to crack down on the oil company gouging and convert the gas-guzzling cars we have today into energy efficient, environment friendly vehicles that are ALSO affordable?
I want to know when we are going to fix the economy with real solutions instead of election-time band aids?
I want to know when we are going to start caring for the elderly, and provide real affordable health insurance to every man, woman and child in America?
I want to know when we are going to get tough on crime and tough on the corruption that dominates our governments?
I want to know when we, as Americans, are going to get serious.
Paris Hilton isn't on the November election ballot.
But right now, she makes more sense than the two overly presumptive party nominees.
So by supporting Paris Hilton today, you just might be sending John McCain and Barack Obama a real wakeup call, one that they, and this country, need badly.
